Formerly known as Summer Nights, the Troupe is an opportunity exclusively for our rising 9th-12th graders to mount a staged reading of a popular musical!

Working with a professional Director and Musical Director, this tight-knit team will rehearse in the evenings for three weeks to prepare a performance in the third week of the program. This performance will take the form of a staged reading utilizing music stands and limited staging. Minimal technical elements allow this ensemble to focus on the material and bring their unique personalities to exciting titles that energize our older, more adventurous performers.

Presenting Our Troupe Performance Opportunity

The cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as…Can’t remember? No problem!

This summer, Wolf PAC Summer Camp’s Troupe is headed Into the Woods to lift the spell, find the future, and–of course–go to the Festival. In this beloved Sondheim musical, fairy tale characters converge as they grapple with their choices, mistakes, and wishes, learning lessons about life, loss, and happy endings as they go.

Three week program from July 20th - August 1st, 2026
Monday-Thursday from 5:30pm - 8:30pm each week

Troupe performances will take place on the third Thursday at either 5:00pm or 7:00pm. Participants will be sorted into one of two casts after the first day. The final product is known as a staged reading, with actors at music stands using scripts and limited staging to keep the focus on the process and performances.

Tuition: $445 for the total three-week session
(10% discount if participant CITs for two weeks during the summer) - contact Will Connell, Camp Director, to register for both at
will.connell@wolfperformingartscenter.org or 610-642-0233.)

  • What is a staged reading?

A staged reading is a performance that emphasizes the material over production values, such as sets and costumes. Performed mostly at music stands with limited staging, participants get to sink their teeth into the material without having to focus their energy on memorization given the short amount of time allotted for rehearsals.

    Why start this program?

We loved the idea of offering our older artists a chance to have a more traditional musical performance at camp. Troupe offers a musical performance opportunity.

Is TROUPE during the camp day?

Nope! Troupe will take place in the evenings during the camp week, from 5:30-8:30pm, Monday through Thursday. CITs are welcome to remain at Wolf PAC between the end of the camp day and start of their Troupe rehearsal.

    Will Troupe have a performance?

Yes! On the Thursday evening of the third week of the program, the cast will present their staged reading musical performance in the Black Box for family and friends.

    Who can participate?

Troupe is open to rising ninth through twelfth graders. Participation is based on registration, not auditions. Auditions will be held during the first evening, but all who register will be cast in the show!

Join us at Wolf PAC this summer as a Counselor in Training (CIT) for a tuition-free, volunteer opportunity to grow and hone offstage skills as a leader and mentor to our younger campers.

CITs will assist with all aspects of the camp day, including tending to camper needs and assisting with rehearsals for the final performance. CITs will be responsible for leading group warm-ups, games, and portions of rehearsals. They will have the opportunity to tackle specific parts of a show (direct a scene, stage a song, create and teach choreography) to be determined with the show’s directors.

All CITs will be integral as Stage Managers to technical aspects of the final performance such as props, costumes, sound, lighting, and more. Additionally, CITs may assist with choreography and backstage organization.

When CITs register for camp, we will contact them to discuss their interests and match them with either our Minis or Players groups.

Becoming a CIT at Wolf PAC is so rewarding!

CITs will receive a personalized recommendation letter from the Camp Director and/or staff upon completion of the program. Plus, a nifty participation certificate that can be used to send off to colleges or confirm volunteer hours for high school programs! In order to receive the letter and certificate, CITs must meet the following criteria:

• Attendance: CITs must attend at least 80% or more of the camp session (four days per week).

• Participation: Each session, the Assistant Camp Director will communicate with the directing teams to confirm that CITs are engaging with the campers and staff in a productive, helpful manner.

• Leadership: Each CIT will direct/teach/choreograph a portion of the show with the guidance of our professional directing teams!

Earn a Certificate of Completion and a letter of recommendation after fulfilling all of the criteria of the program.
