Woodlynde Partners with Wolf Performing Arts Center for Upper School Musical
Thursday, February 23, 2017
Woodlynde School is partnering with a theater artist from the renowned Wolf Performing Arts Center for this year’s Upper School musical production of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. As part of the partnership, visiting artist Zachary J. Chiero will share his expertise and guidance with the Upper School production’s cast and crew. Chiero has performed in productions at the Enchantment Theatre, Media Theater, Act@ Playhouse, and the Arden Theater.
Wolf Performing Arts Center’s Visiting Artists program seeks to “expose students to the fundamentals of theater and the dramatic arts; build self-expression, self-confidence, and public speaking skills; enhance critical thinking through theatrical activities; build a knowledge base of theatrical terms; and learn the process of creating a product and the elements needed for a performance.”
Middle and Upper School Music Teacher Dr. Michael Simmons initiated this new partnership with Wolf Performing Arts Center. With a master’s degree in music history from Temple University and a doctorate in music education from Boston University, Simmons believes in exposing Woodlynde students to the rich and varying cultural opportunities and expertise that can be found in a major metropolitan area like Philadelphia. Following this belief, Simmons also created the popular Live Arts Club at Woodlynde this year, giving students the opportunity to see a wide variety of performances in the region, including Romeo and Juliet at the Media Theater, Lukas Graham at the Fillmore, and West Side Story.
